Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "An apple a day may indeed help keep you out of the doctor’s office, and scientists are just beginning to find out why. Plenty of vitamins and minerals, as well as phytonutrients, are packed into one baseball-sized piece of fruit. Considerable research is currently centered on the role of phytonutrients that act as antioxidants, which are found in many fruits, red wine and tea. Antioxidants counteract chemicals in the blood that oxidize, or damage, certain molecules. Flavonoids are the most common group of phytonutrients in foods. Apples are particularly high in one of the flavonoids called quercetin, which has high antioxidant activity".

As of 8/27, all trash cans now highlight that shoppers can keep the Market clean and green by walking their waste items to a NEW zero waste station (next to Pickle Licious). This new program at the Pleasantville Farmers Market uses a similar approach to that seen at the Pleasantville Music Festival. At the Market's waste station, high school volunteers assist shoppers in sorting items into three bins (compostable food scraps, recyclable items, and trash). The Village of Pleasantville supports this program by collecting sorted items at the end of each market day (the Village has an ongoing food scrap program for residents). Please participate in this effort so we can see it succeed!

Metered Parking in Plaza lot: The Village of Pleasantville's Memorial Plaza parking lot requires payment on Saturdays. The Village's Pango smartphone app and two pay stations are available to make payment for Plaza lot parking and metered street side spaces. Have your license plate number when making payment. For the most convenient way to pay, download the free Pango app today and follow the prompts to set up an account and method of payment.
